Mongolia Street Children
The World Bank instigated a programme to give a voice to children and young adults across Asia who would not otherwise have the chance to impact on government development policies and would not
be heard in their desire to create a better future for themselves – and in some cases any future at all.
“I have something to tell you”
Working with both national and international NGOs, we brought together 200 street children in Ulaanbaatar for two days, allowing them an unprecedented opportunity to speak out about the vital issues affecting them and propose solutions that they felt would work rather than always listening to others.
The results of the meeting were presented to the Mongolian government and radically changed their approach to street children, saving lives and building futures, while also generating a totally new co-operative approach among the NGOs themselves
